How we determine your motorhome’s value
One of the questions our customers ask most frequently is that of how exactly we determine how much any given motorhome is worth? The whole process is kicked off by entering a registration number, but how can a simple license plate alone give any indication as to the true and accurate value of a vehicle?
The answer is simple – it can’t! In reality, license plate details are taken as a means by which to simplify the valuation process – not produce an immediate valuation. Instead, there are several key details and specifics that must be taken into consideration, in order to work out exactly how much a motorhome is worth.
Which is why when provides a quotation, it is based on the following:
Make and model
First of all, the manufacturer of the motorhome and the specific model will both influence its overall value significantly. There will always be certain premium and executive brands that are considered vastly superior to others, meaning that they will inherently command a much higher price. The same also goes for the model of the motorhome, which generally plays the biggest role of all in determining value. These two details at least can be established simply by carrying out a search on the vehicle’s license plate.
Also of extreme importance when it comes to establishing a vehicle’s value is its mileage. Just as a fantastic motorhome with hundreds of thousands of miles on the clock might not be worth a great deal, a relatively simple motorhome with extremely low mileage could be a highly valuable asset. While mileage doesn’t always have a bearing on the vehicle’s quality, very little matters more in the eyes of prospective buyers.
The overall condition of the motorhome must also be taken into account, in order to produce a fair and accurate quotation. Some motorhomes that have been in use for decades still look showroom perfect – others that are no more than a couple of years old look as if they have been through World War 3! We ask our customers to be as honest and thorough as possible when describing the condition of their vehicle, in order to help us determine its value.
We also take into account additional features, extras, modifications, upgrades and anything else that may have potential impact on the motorhome’s value, one way or the other. Given the fact that there are literally thousands of ways of upgrading and enhancing a motorhome’s features, functionalities, comfort and performance, we always take added extras into account.
Last but not least, we also factor in the history of the vehicle in terms of whether or not it has been accident repaired, written off or stolen at any time in the past. In addition, we also take service history and on-going maintenance into account – motorhomes that have been kept in consistently pristine working order over the years always make more attractive purchase prospects.
