If you feel like you have exhausted the possibilities of motorhome driving and you are stuck for ideas on where to go next then take a look at our top five campervan journeys for motorhome drivers and get some serious inspiration for your next adventure!

Glasgow to Fort William

If you are planning a short break in the UK then why not take a scenic drive through Scotland. The journey begins in Glasgow, which is the European City of Culture, and leads to Fort William – boasting the fantastic views from the UK’s highest point on Ben Nevis. Make sure you have plenty of food on board and a full tank of fuel as shops and service stations can be few and far between whilst driving through the wind-swept moors and epic rural scenery.

La Côte Atlantique

Those looking for action packed water-sports could surely find no better place to be than the French Atlantic coast! Whether it’s inland windsurfing in the Bassin d’Arachon which is situated in the north, or Hossegor – which is the capital of French surf culture, offering wind-swept dunes and a huge selection of motorhome friendly car parks where you can easily stop over for the night – the Atlantic coast is a superb choice for summer vacations in a campervan.

Tuscany by the Sea

Fancy a trip to Italy? Then why not visit Tuscany and enjoy a beautiful holiday by the ocean. There are some devastatingly gorgeous places to stay here and it also really pays off if you do a little research beforehand in order to ensure you find the best campsites for your needs. Some knowledge of the local language may also come in useful – particularly if you want to interact with the locals!

Loop the Lac

Lake Geneva is quite simply one of the most gorgeous sightseeing destinations in the whole of Europe. The tiny city of Geneva itself is situated at the most westerly corner of the lake and apart from this small region of urban activity the rest of the lake is surrounded by beautiful examples of stunning Swiss countryside. One of the most popular routes to travel is the Route de Lausanne – which offers various places to stop off and camp at, on a journey which loops right round into Evian-les-Bains in France.

North Sea Islands

If you are looking to avoid the intense heat of summer, then why not take it easy on a picturesque journey through the North Sea Islands. Beginning at Copenhagen – you can head South into Denmark or Germany – or go the opposite way and travel north on a trip through Sweden then Norway. Do remember though that things can get pretty cold in the winter months on this particular route!

Of course, there are plenty of other great motorhome routes you can take when planning a trip in Europe – such as Nice to Monte Carlo, Sevilla and Southern Spain, Porto -Lisbon or a trip along the Dutch-Belgian border. The only limits are those of your imagination!

Finally, when travelling abroad in your campervan, you should always make sure that you are fully aware of the different motorhome driving rules and regulations that each country has – and you also need to ensure that you are fully protected with an insurance policy that covers travelling in the countries you intend to visit.
